There are various investment avenues available to an Investor. Investment professionals call these various types of investment opportunities: “Asset Classes”. Equity gives Dividends and an Increase in value of shares. Debt gives Coupons and there could be a Possible increase in value: but that is not the dominant theme. Cash and deposits are Low Returns, Low Risk. There is no variation in value of investment. The flow of dividends and/or coupons is dependent on quality of the company. It requires skills to correctly assess quality: and even then one cannot be sure. . What will be the impact of Economy on a company in which we hold a bond/share?
